LIVING ALONG THE LINE – PT ONE

By Ann Fenning

The construction of the north coast railway line through Mount George and the opening of it in February 1913 was a catalyst for increased settlement in the Mount George area and transferred the centre of the community from Wyoming to around the station. The railway handled many types of produce from Mt George and provided a much-needed link to the wider world.
