The 50th Anniversary of
In 1964 a group of like minded people established a local historical Society. Many fund-raisers later and with overwhelming support from the community, the Society purchased Moxey’s general store to house its historic collection. Finally on 29th November 1968, Wingham Museum was officially opened by locally-raised aviatrix, Nancy Bird-Walton AO OBE DStJ.
Now in 2018 the Museum proudly celebrates it’s 50th Anniversary. Run entirely by volunteers, the Museum has seen many changes over the years. It is a testament to all those volunteers that their efforts have created a Regional Museum that is regarded as ‘One of the best regional museums in NSW’. In May 2018 our local member, Stephen Bromhead, stood in Parliament and gave a Community Recognition Statement recognizing the quality of our Museum. An accolade of the highest order!
In 2018 the Organisation intends to celebrate this milestone with an “Open Weekend” on Saturday December 1st and Sunday December 2nd , from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day and admission is FREE!
EVERYONE is invited to join us on that weekend to celebrate the History and Culture of the Manning Valley.
