June 2020 – Covid Information

Hi Everyone,

Wingham Museum will re-open on Monday, 1st June 2020, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the first two weeks.  During this time, people from the Management Committee will do door duty just to check that the COVID-19 measures we have put in place are safe for both staff & visitors.  If everything is OK, then we can return to the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. roster as before.  I will be in touch with volunteers for door duty in the near future.

First 2 weeks Roster – 10 to 2 p.m.  Mondays – Kathie.  Tuesdays – Terry.  Wednesdays – Garry.  Thursdays – Kathie.  Fridays – Terry.  Saturdays – Leon & Leslie.  Sundays – Robyn.

In keeping with the one person per four square metres rule, the Management Committee asks that following be observed regarding numbers of people per room.

Museum – as we are not accepting group bookings at the moment, we do not expect to have large numbers of visitors at any one time.  Therefore, we will ask visitors to adhere to the 1.5 metres distance from others.

Meeting Room – at 44 sq. metres, it can take a maximum of 11 people.

Kitchen – 1 person at a time.

Main Office – 3 people + 1 doing photo-copying.

Small Office Room – 2 people.

Archives – 4 people in main room, 1 in archive storage.

Workroom/Textiles – 3 people.

New Shed at Back – at 30 sq. metres, a maximum of 7 people.

COVID-19 MEASURES IN THE MUSEUM (see attached sheet)

The museum surfaces will be cleaned with disinfectant every day by Management Committee volunteers before 10 a.m. start.

We have installed a perspex screen which acts as a barrier between volunteers & visitors.

There are bottles of hand sanitizers at the volunteer’s desk, the sign-in desk & at various places where visitors can open draws or look at books.

Sign-in desk (formally where visitors wrote their comments), visitors are asked to write their name, email or phone number for contact tracing purposes.  Pens to be used once then put into a separate container to be disinfected by volunteer as needed.

Liquid soap & paper towels will be provided.

Notices for visitors are at the front desk & near the lace draws, book shelves, egg draws & Jimmy Governor’s Cell (which takes a maximum of two people.)

1.5 metres distance marked out at entrance.  Outside seat has been taped off.  Inside seat has been marked out so only two people can be seated.

The museum’s toilet will NOT be opened to the public.
